Youth charged with assault, robbery

A 14-year-old youth is facing multiple charges following an incident in Sioux Lookout on Feb. 3.
Ontario Provincial Police shared in a Feb. 11 media release, “On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, shortly before 3:00 p.m., Sioux Lookout OPP responded to a call for service involving an edged weapon in the parking lot of a local business. The investigation determined that a youth approached an individual in a vehicle, taking possession of the vehicle, before leaving the scene on foot.
“While attempting to locate the suspect, officers were informed that a second victim was assaulted by the suspect and sustained minor injuries.
“Members of the Sioux Lookout OPP located and arrested the suspect a short time later.”
The 14-year-old has been charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon - two counts
- Disguise with Intent
- Robbery with a Weapon
The accused, whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was held for bail and released from police custody with a future court date.
“Police believe this was an isolated incident and there is no threat to public safety,” OPP shared.
