Suspected crack cocaine, cocaine seized in search of Bearskin Lake First Nation home

Two Bearskin Lake First Nation residents are facing charges after police executed a search warrant at a home in that community on Feb. 7.
Police shared in a Feb. 10 media release, “Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service’s Intelligence Unit and NAPS Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant, with assistance from frontline members working out of the Bearskin Lake First Nation detachment, on Saturday, Feb. 7 at a residential address on Bridge Road.”
Police shared that the search warrant was obtained following on ongoing investigation into drug trafficking activity within the community of Bearskin Lake First Nation.
NAPS shared, “When police entered the home, they located and arrested two suspects without incident. Following a search of the home, police located and seized a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, cocaine, cash, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.”
The value of cash seized totals about $15,000, and the estimated street value of suspected drugs seized totals nearly $30,000.
A 35-year-old male from Bearskin Lake First Nation is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
A 34-year-old female from Bearskin Lake First Nation is charged with:
• Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
Both suspects have been released from custody with conditions and future court appearance dates.
