EDITOR'S NOTE: The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has canceled this event, which had been scheduled for March 11. KPDSB shared on their Facebooked page this was done, "out of respect for our school community in Sioux Lookout". The event was cancelled after this edition had been sent to print. The Sioux Lookout Bulletin apologies for any confusion. KPDSB has since shared, on Feb. 19, that the Fireside Chat with the Director of Education in Sioux Lookout has been rescheduled to March 11.
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board (KPDSB) is hosting a Fireside Chat, led by Director of Education Christy Radbourne, on February 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sioux North High School.
“Fireside Chats are an opportunity for parents and caregivers to engage in an open discussion / Q&A session with the Director of Education concerning education-related topics. Subjects of interest will include Artificial Intelligence — a new and hot topic — as well as Kindergarten Registration, parent engagement opportunities, math initiatives and math education, and attendance campaigns geared toward student success. Attendees are invited to ask questions and provide comments on any programs, initiatives, or concerns they may have,” KPDSB shared.
The Fireside Chat is open to all members of the community. This will be a drop-in event and does not require registration.
A livestream of the Fireside Chat will also be provided on the KPDSB Facebook page. “Viewers will have the opportunity to watch the Q&A session live and comment questions for the Director to answer if they cannot make it to Sioux North High School in person. Viewers are especially encouraged to ask questions about KPDSB’s Artificial Intelligence use framework,” the school board shared.
“KPDSB encourages all parents, caregivers, and community members with an interest in public education to attend/watch, ask questions, and converse with the Director of Education. Fireside Chats are an innovative opportunity for KPDSB to connect with the community about education initiatives and student success,” KPDSB noted.
