Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) is supporting the Sioux Lookout Food Bank with a donation of $13,200.
“While the food bank remains open to the entire community, this donation ensures that local First Nations families and individuals continue to have access to nutritious foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, milk, and eggs,” SLFNHA shared in an Oct. 30 media release.
“Food security is an important aspect of the work SLFNHA does. Access to nutritious and safe foods is essential for overall health and well-being. We know that food insecurity has become more of a challenge, especially for communities SLFNHA serves, and we are committed to supporting community-led initiatives that make a difference in people’s lives,” stated Sonia Isaac-Mann, President & CEO, SLFNHA.
For the past two years, the Sioux Lookout Food Bank has been including fresh fruits, veggies, milk, and eggs in its hampers. The organization’s existing funding for these items is coming to an end.
Amanda Landgraff, Manager, Sioux Lookout Food Bank, shared in SLFNHA’s media release, “This support from SLFNHA will allow us to continue providing these nutritious items in hampers for months to come. On behalf of our board and clients, I want to extend a huge thank you to SLFNHA!”
“SLFNHA extends heartfelt appreciation to the Sioux Lookout Food Bank for their ongoing diligence and dedication in making food and nutrition support accessible to those in need. This collaboration underscores SLFNHA’s commitment to strengthening community wellness through practical and compassionate action,” SLFNHA concluded.
The Sioux Lookout Food Bank recently shared on its Facebook page, “We are excited to share that the Sioux Lookout Food Bank board has chosen Rosiak Carpentry Ltd to build our new facility! We plan to begin in the spring of 2026 and move into the new building later in the year.
