A major milestone for a local restaurant.
Chicken Chef is celebrating 35 years in Sioux Lookout with a month-long celebration.
The restaurant opened its doors in November of 1990, becoming well known in the Sioux Lookout area as well as northern First Nations communities.
Scott West has been with the restaurant for 31 of those 35 years, rising to the position of manager.
He said over the years Chicken Chef has served pressure fried chicken, fresh dough pizzas, and many other delicious menu items to its customers.
West said people should stay tuned to the Chicken Chef Sioux Lookout Facebook page to stay up to date on what the restaurant has planned for its celebratory month.
Chicken Chef will be sponsoring the Nov. 7 home game between the Sioux Lookout Bombers and Fort Frances Lakers and West said the Chicken Chef will be in attendance for the game.
West said the restaurant updated its menu in April, adding 20 new items in addition to the pizza and chicken he said the restaurant is perhaps best known for.
In recent years the restaurant has also renovated its dining room and just this year added a gluten-free option for its pizza crust and launched dessert pizzas earlier this year.
West thanked everyone who has supported Chicken Chef’s Sioux Lookout restaurant over the past 35 years, stating he takes great pride in customers telling him they had a good meal, “I like cooking. Working here has given me a great love of cooking, and I like it when people appreciate a good meal and let me know that.”
The regular court sport season wrapped up last week for the Sioux North High School Warriors...
