The Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre will be temporarily closed from June 22 to July 31.
The Municipality of Sioux Lookout shared in an April 24 media release that, “This closure is required to address issues related to previously installed flooring. The original vendor will be returning to complete necessary repairs to ensure the facility meets the quality standards expected by the Municipality and the community. During this time, staff will also complete additional minor repairs and maintenance throughout the facility.”
The Municipality further shared, “We understand that this closure may be inconvenient, and we appreciate your patience as we take the necessary steps to ensure the long-term functionality and safety of the Recreation Centre.”
The Municipality informed, “All active memberships will be automatically frozen during the closure period. Members will not lose any time, and their memberships will resume once the facility reopens.”
The Municipality advised that while the facility will be closed for regular programming, it will remain open Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for:
- Program registration
- General inquiries
- Administrative services
“Our goal is to complete this work efficiently and reopen the facility fully operational and ready to serve the community. Updates will be provided should timelines change,” the Municipality informed, adding, “The Municipality of Sioux Lookout thanks the community for their understanding and continued support as we complete these important improvements.”
