Rookie of the Year
Anishinaabe musher Jesse Terry, a member of Lac Seul First Nation and a resident of Sioux Lookout, was named 2026 Rookie of the Year in the 54th running of the Iditarod after finishing 14th overall on March 19 at 3:36 a.m. with his team of sled dogs.
Terry posted the fastest rookie time, completing the 1000 mile race across Alaska in 10 days, 13 hours, 36 minutes, 3 seconds.
