Mary Helmi Molitor (nee Laitinen)

January 4, 1943 - August 11, 2022

With great sadness we say goodbye to our loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend.  Mary passed away peacefully surrounded by love in Sioux Lookout after a courageous battle with cancer.  Mary has gone to join her loving husband Lee Molitor and her parents Leo and Madeline Laitinen.  Remaining to cherish her memory is her sister Ellen (Jerry Hemstreet), her daughters Linda (Mark Johnston) and Viki (Larry Goretzki) and her 5 grandsons Ronnie Goretzki (Darci Belmore) Brad Duval (Lauren Dayes), Nick Duval (Jolynn Carmichael), John Duval and Eric Goretzki.

Mary started her career at Sarnia General Hospital as a young nurse.  After her children were born, she left nursing to devote her time to her family.  Se was a passionate outdoors woman and adventurer and loved to spend her time camping and fishing.  Mary also was a competitive card player and presented a challenge to her friends, family and fellow cribbage competitors.

A special thank you to Dr. Erica who took the time to listen to Mary and to help her family through this difficult time.  Thank you also to the staff that took time from their busy day to ensure Mary was comfortable and cared for.  Your kindness will forever be appreciated.

Cremation has taken place and a private celebration of Mary’s life will take place at a later date.  If friends so desire, they can make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in her name through the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, 128 Front St., Box 1449 Sioux Lookout, ON P8T 1B9
