Lac Seul Police Service lays charges following shots fired complaint

A 22-year-old individual has been charged with firearms offences after Lac Seul Police Service members investigated an incident on April 23.
Lac Seul Police Service shared in an April 24 media release, “On April 23, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Lac Seul Police Service (LSPS) received a complaint of a firearm being discharged near a bridge on Kejick Bay Road.
“It was reported that two individuals were geese hunting in the area when a sport utility vehicle (SUV) approached and stopped. A firearm was discharged, and a firearm was later pointed at the persons hunting. The suspects then fled the scene.”
Police located the suspect vehicle at a residence in Lac Seul First Nation. Police arrested one individual.
Police seized the suspect’s vehicle and obtained a search warrant; a rifle was located in the vehicle during the search.
The 22-year-old individual has been charged with:
• Point firearm
• Careless use of a firearm
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
The accused was later released on a court order and is to appear in Provincial court on May 27.
