Motor vehicle collision involving pedestrian under investigation in Deer Lake First Nation

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in Deer Lake First Nation.
“Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) working out of the Deer Lake First Nation detachment responded to a reported motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the late hours of April 29, 2026,” NAPS shared in an April 30 media release.
“When police arrived on scene, they located an injured adult male, who was being treated by
paramedics. The victim was transported to the community nursing station for further evaluation and treatment of his injuries,” NAPS shared, adding, “The exact nature of those injuries is not known at this time but is not believed to be lifethreatening.”
NAPS informed that as a result of continued investigation, an adult driver was identified and arrested without incident at the scene and was expected to appear in court later that day on charges related to Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Bodily Harm.
The investigation remains ongoing and involves members of the NAPS Crime Unit alongside OPP Technical Collision Investigators.
