Five individuals arrested after Town Beach vandalized with graffiti

Fast response and hard work of Municipal staff gets space cleaned up quickly

Five people have been arrested and charged after buildings at Farlinger Park (Town Beach) were extensively vandalized with graffiti overnight between July 24 and July 25.
The Municipality of Sioux Lookout, after being informed of the vandalism, posted on Facebook, “The matter has been reported to the authorities, and CCTV footage will be provided to assist with the investigation.”
Sioux Lookout OPP shared in a July 27 media release that, “Officers reviewed closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage and were able to identify the individuals involved.”
As a result of the investigation by Sioux Lookout OPP, five individuals were arrested and charged. 
A 38-year-old from Big Trout Lake First Nation, a 44-year-old from Cat Lake First Nation, a 39-year-old from Big Trout Lake First Nation, a 33-year-old from Kingfisher Lake First Nation, and a 33-year-old from North Caribou Lake First Nation have each been charged with Mischief Under $5000 
Police informed that all five individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on October 6. 
Thanks to the fast action and hard work on the part of Municipal staff, the graffiti was quickly removed.
“A big thank you to our municipal staff who have worked diligently this morning to restore the Town Beach area,” the Municipality of Sioux Lookout shared in a July 25 Facebook post. “Their quick response and incredible efforts have exceeded our expectations, and they have done an amazing job getting the space cleaned up.”
The Municipality further shared, “Unfortunately, due to the repeated nature of these acts of vandalism, our staff have had to become increasingly efficient and innovative in their cleanup efforts. We are grateful for their dedication and commitment to our community.
“Thank you to our residents and visitors for your patience and understanding. We know the Town Beach is a valued space for families and our community, and we will continue working hard to keep it safe, clean, and welcoming for everyone.”
