Lac Seul Police Service search warrant results in two arrests

Two individuals are facing multiple charges after members of the Lac Seul Police Service Criminal (LSPS) Investigation Unit and front-line members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a residence in the community of Frenchman’s Head, Lac Seul First Nation on the morning of Thursday, July 16.
LSPS shared in a media release issued on July 21, “At approximately 8:12 a.m., officers entered the residence where two subjects were arrested and taken into custody. Police conducted a thorough search of the residence and seized approximately 84.3 grams of suspected Cocaine, brass
knuckles, electronic devices, and numerous rounds of assorted ammunition. Street value of the seized illicit drugs is estimated to be approximately $9000.
“The investigation is believed to be connected to an ongoing drug trafficking distribution network operating within Lac Seul First Nation, Hudson and Sioux Lookout in Northwestern Ontario.”
A 43-year-old individual and a 52-year-old individual have each been charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine – S. 5 (2) CDSA
- Possession of Prohibited Device of Ammunition for Dangerous Purpose – S. 88 CC
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition – S. 86 (1) CC
Both accused were held in custody for a bail hearing and were released on Release Orders, scheduled to appear in Lac Seul Court on August 26th, 2026, at 10:00 a.m to answer the charges.
