The Sioux North High School (SNHS) Warriors Senior Boys Basketball Team has punched their ticket to the NWOSSA Championship.
SNHS hosted the NORWOSSA AA Division Court Sport Championships on Friday, Feb. 20.
The Warriors earned a bye into the final where they defeated the Dryden Eagles 52-44.
Head Coach Shawn Hordy shared, “We had a good season, finishing in top spot to earn the much needed bye into the finals. Dryden gave us all we could handle jn the first half and they were even up by quite a bit. We made a few adjustments and picked up our gameplay that chipped away at the lead. Then, in the fourth, our rebounding and fast break helped us pull away and get the win.”
SNHS will host the NWOSSA Championship on Feb. 25 and 26, where the Warriors will face-off against Westgate Collegiate & Vocational Institute Tigers in a best of three series for a chance to advance to OFSAA, the provincial
championship.
In Junior Boys Basketball, the Beaver Brae Secondary School Broncos defeated the Dryden Eagles 56-35 in the semi-final. The Fort Frances Muskies defeated the Broncos 67-39 in the final.
In Senior Girls Volleyball, the Warriors edged the Beave Brae Broncos 3 sets to 2 in the semi-final to advance to the final, where they were defeated by the Fort Frances Muskies in three straight sets.
In Junior Girls Volleyball, the Warriors were defeated in three straight sets by the Dryden Eagles in the semi-finals. The Fort Frances Muskies went on to defeat the Dryden Eagles in three straight sets in the final.
We could not be more proud of these young athletes and what they have accomplished in the face of adversity...
