More than 200 people visited SkyCare’s Aviation Station at their hangar on Aug. 5, during this year’s Blueberry Festival.
“Our goal with the SkyCare Aviation Station is to create a fun, family-friendly event where people of all ages can experience aviation up close. This year, activities included prize fishing and ride-on airplanes for the little ones, pedal-plane races and airplane tosses for kids, as well as a virtual reality experience, aircraft tours, and ambulance tours for the whole family.
“We also had a special visit from Blueberry Bert, who helped us give visitors a fun demonstration of what a medevac mission can look like. Bert hopped onto the stretcher and experienced the journey from the aircraft to the ambulance, giving families a closer look at how patients are transported as part of our air ambulance operations,” SkyCare shared, adding, “It was wonderful to see so many kids and families enjoying the activities while also learning more about SkyCare”
“This year’s event was especially meaningful for us as we are celebrating our 20th anniversary and 20 years of serving the North and beyond. We wanted to share this milestone with the community and celebrate alongside the people and families who have been part of our journey over the past two decades,” SkyCare stated.
The event included door prizes for both children and adults, along with a grand prize draw for a sightseeing flight over Sioux Lookout for up to six passengers.
“Overall, we were very pleased with how the event went. It was a great opportunity to spend time with the community, celebrate 20 years of SkyCare, and share our passion for aviation with so many families.
“We’d also like to recognize our incredible staff who helped make the Aviation Station possible. Their enthusiasm and willingness to get involved played a huge role in making the day such a success, and it was especially meaningful to celebrate this milestone together with our team and community,” SkyCare concluded.
Visitors were invited to join The Hub for its biggest doughnut day of the year on Aug. 7...
