Dear Constituents

Prime Minister Mark Carney promised we’d have the fastest growing economy in the G7. But after a year in office, the results are the exact opposite. Statistics Canada reported that real GDP in Canada fell in the fourth quarter of 2025. We now have the only shrinking economy of the G7 countries.
The Liberals also said they would remove the significant barriers to internal trade between provinces by Canada Day of last year. Canadians were told that businesses would be able to sell their products anywhere in the country free from unruly restrictions. Yet, we still face internal trade restrictions on many of our products. Conservatives want to remove the internal barriers that block Canada’s growth and production. By encouraging and allowing Canadian goods to be readily purchasable throughout our own borders, Canada can become stronger at home.
The problems don’t stop at internal trade or our shrinking economy. Investment and infrastructure promises have yet again failed to materialise in any meaningful manner—and especially not at the pace Canadians were told to expect. Mark Carney said the government would move at a “speed not seen in generations to build ports, railways, and energy grids.” However, no new projects have been approved after his first year in office. For projects of any size to be built, Canada needs willing businesses to invest and get to work. But investment is fleeing Canada. Foreign takeovers of Canadian firms and businesses—primarily done by companies in the United States—are becoming more commonplace in a time where our economic sovereignty is under threat.
It should be no surprise then that employment is down in Canada as well. Our economy lost 108,000 full time jobs in February. This is the largest one-month decline in full time employment since the COVID-19 pandemic. Canada also saw 73,000 job losses in the private sector and the youth unemployment rate spiked to over 14 per cent.
The facts show we can’t trust Mark Carney and the Liberals at their word. Canada is neither building infrastructure at breakneck speeds, nor growing our economy—and Canada also has the highest food price inflation of all G7 countries. Despite the rhetoric, the Liberals’ plan isn’t achieving its stated results. Conservatives will continue to stand up for Canadians and we will work with all parties to make Canada more self-reliant and get our economic house in order.
