Pumpkin Patch Pop-Up
A spooktacular sight at the Sioux Lookout Public Library on the evening of Nov. 2.
Community members were invited to visit for a delightful walk through the library to admire 110 pumpkins which were carved, painted, or decorated by local residents.
Assistant Librarian Nancy McCord said the Pumpkin Patch Pop-Up was inspired by Thunder Bay’s Pumpkin Parade held at Hillcrest Park, where residents are invited to bring their jack-o-lanterns or just enjoy the display the night of the event.
“Thunder Bay does it, with the Sleeping Giant in the background, and it’s always been beautiful, so we’d been thinking about doing it one of these years and we thought this would be the year,” McCord explained.
“This way we’re getting three uses out of the pumpkins. People use them at home, bring them here for our library event, and then Rock Front Family Farm is going to take them for compost, so it’s kind of a win all-around,” McCord added, stating the library is looking forward to growing the event even more next Halloween.
