OPP’s precision motorcycle team, the Golden Helmets, to visit Sioux Lookout on Sept. 4, possible fireworks show that evening

The Golden Helmets, the OPP’s precision motorcycle team, will perform in Sioux Lookout during Labour Day weekend as part of their Northwest Region Tour.
The Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) shared that the Sioux Lookout performance will take place on Friday, September 4 at 6:00 p.m. on Front Street, between Fourth Avenue and Fifth Avenue.
Spectators are welcome to watch the performance from the sidewalks on either side of Front Street.
The Golden Helmets will also make stops in Thunder Bay, Dryden, Kenora, and Fort Frances as part of their tour.
Sioux Lookout OPP shared, “Each performance is approximately 30 minutes long and showcases the riders’ skill, precision and motorcycle maneuverability. The Golden Helmets ride the front-line patrol Harley-Davidson Police Special motorcycles, each weighing approximately
850 pounds.
“The team consists of 20 riders and was first formed in 1963. The Golden Helmets have become a highly recognizable part of the OPP, entertaining communities across Ontario while demonstrating the skill and professionalism of police motorcycle officers.”
The Sioux Lookout Detachment is encouraging residents and visitors to come out and enjoy this unique demonstration during the Labour Day weekend.
“The Sioux Lookout Lions Club and the volunteer Fire Department fireworks crew hope to bring the evening to a colourful close with the long-postponed Canada Day fireworks. This will occur only if the RFZ has been lifted,” the Sioux Lookout Lions Club shared with The Bulletin.
