Sioux Lookout OPP welcomes three new recruits
Ontario Provincial Police
The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are proudly joined by three new Provincial Constables, P/C GARNER, P/C LEE, and P/C SPEAKMAN. All three officers have been very successful throughout their training at the Ontario Provincial Police Academy, Constable LEE winning the "Most Outstanding Recruit" award and Constable SPEAKMAN winning the "Eric Nystedt Fitness Award" nomination for the recruit class. All three constables have now begun to settle into their role as officers in Sioux Lookout.
Provincial Constable Brittany GARNER is joining the Sioux Lookout OPP from Southern Ontario, where she was a hospital Security Guard for the past eight years. She was born and raised in London, Ontario, and graduated from Seneca College with a diploma in Police Foundations. In her spare time she enjoys staying active and fishing. Constable GARNER is excited to be starting her career as a police officer in Sioux Lookout, where she will be providing proactive police services and actively engaging with the members of our community.
Provincial Constable Samantha LEE worked as a Special Constable with the Sioux Lookout OPP before being hired as a constable. Previous to that, she worked as a 911 dispatcher at the Provincial Communications Centre in Orillia and studied Social Welfare and Social Development in University. Constable LEE chose to return to Sioux Lookout as an officer because of the amazing and unique community she found here. She also advises that "the summers are beautiful and are worth the cold winters". Constable LEE is most looking forward to continuing to interact with the community as she moves into her policing role.
Provincial Constable Lauren SPEAKMAN worked as a case manager with a non-profit organization for two years before being hired as a constable with the OPP. Previous to that, she earned degrees in Sociology/Criminology and Family & Child Studies at the University of Guelph, and taught English at an international school in Thailand. Constable SPEAKMAN chose Sioux Lookout to begin her policing career because of how much the community has to offer. She advises that Northern Ontario has a lot of prosperity and beauty, and that she is looking forward to being a part of the community.
The Sioux Lookout OPP extend a warm welcome to these new constables, and know that our community members will make them feel at home as they begin their policing careers in our municipality.
