Northwestern Health Unit Celebrates Canadian Public Health Week
Northwestern Health Unit - Special to The Bulletin
Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) is recognizing Canadian Public Health Week, taking place April 6-10, 2026, as an opportunity to highlight the vital role public health plays in supporting strong, healthy communities across the region.
Public health programs and services help prevent illness, promote healthy living, and strengthen community well-being. From disease prevention and health promotion to emergency preparedness, NWHU works with municipalities, community organizations, local partners, and residents to address local needs and reduce health inequities.
“Canadian Public Health Week is an important time to recognize the many ways public health contributes to healthier communities,” said Marlyn Herbacz, Chief Executive Officer of NWHU.
“Strong relationships with our communities allow us to respond to local priorities and build environments where people can live, work, and thrive. These relationships wouldn’t be possible without our incredibly dedicated staff across the region.”
Through local-level collaboration, sectors across the region work together to address population health challenges. Northwestern Health Unit thanks its partners for their continued leadership and collaboration in advancing population health and helping build resilient communities across Northwestern Ontario.
