The Sioux Lookout HOG (Harley Owners Group) Chapter’s annual Toys for Tots Run took place on Sept. 26, with riders collecting new, unwrapped toys and monetary donations at the Sioux Lookout Travel Information Centre.
Toys and donations collected will be donated to the Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre’s Christmas hamper program.
Chapter Director Rick Jaworski said this was the club’s 22nd year running the event to help people in Sioux Lookout and the surrounding area. All riders were welcome to attend.
The Toys for Tots Run is the last official club event of the season, and the club uses it as an opportunity to give back to the community.
Jaworski added that anyone who would like to support the Toys for Tots initiative can still do so by dropping off a donation at the Friendship Centre.
Looking back on the riding season, Jaworski shared, “Fantastic once again. Lots of riding in. Lots of great weather. Can’t complain.”
After collecting donations and posing for an end of season photo, riders paraded through town, finishing the event with a get-together at the Friendship Centre.
Jaworski urged motorists, “There will be a few people out there trying to push riding as far as possible into the season, so just keep that in mind, keep an eye out for the motorcyclists still out there. We’ll be back next year for May is Motorcycle Awareness Month and our Take a Sec and Double Check campaign.”
“A thank you goes out to Stan Nissley Construction for donating year after year, also new onboard this year and last year are the Shriners (Sioux Lookout Shrine Family), so thank you to them for their time and donation,” Jaworski said.
He concluded, “Just a thank you to all the riders who came out today and all the locals that donated also.”
Local riders were joined by riders from Red Lake and Dryden for the event.
The 22nd Annual Lobsterfest hosted by the Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout was a great success!..
