Citizens petition against new burning permit fee
Petitions have been set up in businesses around town to protest a $20 fee for annual burning permits. Sioux Lookout council decided to implement the $20 permit for incinerator and open fire burning at a recent council meeting.
Not guilty decision in smoking bylaw trial
He spoke not a word during proceedings of the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on April 7. Douglas R. Lee was on trial for one count of allegedly being in violation of the Corporation of the Municipality of Sioux Lookout’s smoking Bylaw Number 11-03 being a bylaw to create smoke free public places in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout.
Barclay lodges complaint over new poll boundaries
Susan Barclay, minister of St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Sioux Lookout, and recently acclaimed federal NDP (New Democratic Party) candidate in the Kenora riding, isn’t happy with Elections Canada over new poll boundaries.
As old man winter releases Sioux Lookout from his snowy grip signs of spring are revealed. These flowers, possibly the first of the season and something sure to become a more and more common sight in town, were spotted in a garden on Seventh Avenue Sunday.
