My trusty companion

My friend Omar at Ramsey Smoke Shop sold me the torch lighter insert for a Zippo lighter. When I got home this week I dug out my old Zippo from a box in the basement.
I had bought this beauty in 1966 when I lived in Fairbanks and carried it faithfully in my pocket for the next 30 years. I estimate I lit more than 600,000 cigarettes with it during that time.
After years of unsuccessful attempts to quit smoking cigarettes I finally succeeded about 25 years ago and tossed away my trusted companion.
A few years ago I became interested in cigars and am learning to love them.
A few minutes ago I fired up my first cigar, a Cigar Factory stick fresh from New Orleans, with the new-born Zippo. The old romance is back!
I'm looking forward to lighting 600,000 cigars in the years ahead. We will celebrate the occasion at Omar's store.
