The deadline to file a nomination for the 2026 Municipal Election is fast approaching.
Friday, Aug. 21 is the last day to file a nomination with nomination forms being accepted until 2 p.m.
Information for candidates, voters, and key dates can be found on the Municipality of Sioux Lookout’s website at https://www.siouxlookout.ca/town-hall/2026-municipal-election.
According to the Unofficial List of Candidates, updated on Aug. 17, Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance is seeking re-election, as are current councillors Joan Cosco, Reece Van Breda, Darlene Angeconeb, and Joe Cassidy.
Also seeking election are Jordyn Angeconeb, Neil Michelin, and Bob Gould.
On Monday, Aug. 24, the Clerk will certify nominations and by 4 p.m. will declare any candidates elected by acclamation.
Voting Day is Oct. 26.
