Curling Day In Canada
Jan. 31 was celebrated across the country as Curling Day in Canada and in Sioux Lookout, community members participated in an instructional session in the afternoon and a funspiel in the evening at the Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club.
Mac Lenton, a new board member at the golf and curling club and curling committee member, said the event went really well.
“It’s really nice to see new people come and try a new sport. Seeing everyone excel at it very quickly is really great,” he shared, adding, “It’s really rewarding people can pick it up at a good pace!”
Lenton, along with veteran local curler Natalie Popovic, ran most of the session.
He said of offering the free event, “We wanted to do something for Curling Day in Canada... it felt really good to give back and coach people again. I have experience playing and coaching at the junior level. Doing these feel at home for me.”
