Thanks to the support of the community, a record setting amount of money was raised in support of the work of the Friends of Cedar Bay through this year’s Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign.
This year’s total raised, $10,915, is the most the campaign has raised in Sioux Lookout to date according to Friends of Cedar Bay board member and volunteer Michael O’Brien, who was the campaign’s main organizer for the Friends of Cedar Bay.
During the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign, which ran from Sept. 19 – 25, proceeds from Smile Cookie sales supported charities and community groups across Canada.
“I’m really amazed, really happy that the community does support Cedar Bay so much, as they do other organizations. It really helps out a lot. It’s going to help out our horse programing… we’re trying to get EAL going, which stands for Equine Assisted Learning,” O’Brien said.
“All there three schools were really helpful in their support, along with the community, obviously,” he added.
O’Brien also thanked Friends of Cedar Bay Vice-Chair and Municipal Councillor Joyce Timpson for the work she did in scheduling volunteers for the event
O’Brien also thanked the Sioux Lookout Bombers for their help in the drive-thru.
The Nishnawbe-Gamik Friendship Centre (NGFC), with the help of fellow members of Sioux Lookout's Violence Action & Awareness Committee (VAAC), welcomed the community on Dec.6 for their Annual Christmas Feast...
