The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has launched a new, interactive, online tool which they say offers a clear, easy to read view of the Municipality’s progress in delivering on its strategic objectives
The Municipality shared that, the Community Compass, powered by Envisio, a leading strategy and performance management platform used by local governments across North America, “offers our community greater transparency, accountability, and trust.”
The Municipality added the new tool helps, “reduce misinformation, ensures accountability, and gives residents confidence in how decisions are made and resources are used. The new dashboard allows the community to see where their tax dollars are being invested, and the results being achieved in return.”
“Our Community Compass is evidence of our commitment toward meeting the community-wide goals we laid out in our strategic plan,” said Brian MacKinnon, CAO & Municipal Clerk. “By sharing our progress publicly, we are holding ourselves accountable and being transparent in our efforts to align our resources with the needs of our community.”
“We’re working towards strategic objectives that will benefit all Sioux Lookout residents, and our Community Compass ensures everyone has insight into our guiding principles,” added Jennifer Esposito, Manager of Strategic Initiatives. “Envisio enables us to use our limited resources more effectively, reduce the reporting burden on staff, and clearly communicate the value we’re delivering for every tax dollar spent.”
The Community Compass is based on Sioux Lookout’s 2020–2025 Strategic Plan and centers on five key priorities:
- Community Innovation & Development
- Community Wellness
- Regional Collaboration
- Community Engagement
- Operational Excellence
It outlines many current and upcoming projects and offers updates from late 2024 as well.
The Municipality shared, “Visitors to the Community Compass will find written updates from staff and a colour-coded progress tracking system. Data is updated monthly, ensuring the information remains current.
“With this launch, Sioux Lookout joins a growing network of municipalities using Envisio to build transparency, accountability, and trust within the community.”
“Local governments of every size are starting to realize the power of their data and the substantial value of transparency throughout government operations,” said Mike Bell, CEO and Founder of Envisio. “Sioux Lookout is a fantastic example of a government that is rethinking how it operates to be more strategic, more transparent, and more effective in serving its community. We are thrilled to support their efforts and help them uncover new insights to guide their progress.”
