Friendship, acceptance key themes in children’s Christmas play

The importance of friendship and acceptance were key themes as Northern Lights Community Theatre (NLCT) presented two showings of “The Nose Glows!” on Nov. 25 at the Sioux North High School cafetorium.
The children’s theatre production was a re-creation of the Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer story.
The original script was by Susan Powers and adapted by Northern Lights Community Theatre.
Director Hilary Hardeman shared after the show, “I think it was excellent. The kids had such a great time and that’s the main thing.”
“It’s just so great that the community can come together and support theatre in this way with such a young age, but with our adult shows as well,” she added. 
Producer Anita Bruins-Burk, agreed, “I feel it went well.” They said there was a good turnout for both showings of the production, which included acting and singing.
Renata Rattai took on the role of Rudolph after talking with Hardeman, “I did the play last year in the chorus, so we talked about it and she said I should be it.”
Rattai said she had fun performing, adding she felt the performance’s message was a good one.
Malenah Rousseau shared, “This was my first time being in the children’s theatre. I was very nervous but it was a lot of fun and I look forward to being a part of another one.”
She added, “I felt that it was a great theme showing that you should be kind to everyone. I really liked the “We Are All Amazing” song. I think it was perfect for the type of play.”
Students spent six weeks preparing for the play.
