Sioux Lookout and area residents enjoyed another full weekend of Curbside Swapping last week.
The event, which typically occurs once a month in the spring, summer, and early fall, will become a more frequent staple this year.
The Municipality of Sioux Lookout announced in a Facebook post on June 8, “Given the inability to hold yard or garage sales at this time, pursuant to public health directives, the Municipality is expanding the frequency of Curbside Swap events for the summer of 2020 (commencing June 2020 through September 2020). Effective this summer, Curbside Swap events will be held every second week, commencing June 13, 2020. Items placed at the curbside may be put on by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, and must be removed (if not taken) by 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Participants are encouraged to monitor weather conditions and bring items indoors should wind or other inclement weather be forecast.”
Participants are being reminded to exercise precautions during COVID-19 by disinfecting items that are placed, and picked up, curbside.
To stay up to date on Curbside Swap, and to see items that are available during the event, join the private Facebook group SLKT - Curbside Swap.
The Northwestern Health Unit announced on June 13 through their Facebook page (@TheNWHU) that, “Garage sales can now take place but must be limited to 10 people at a time.”
The health unit advised people to remember to:
