Cadet cleanup
Tonight (June 13) the Royal Canadian Air Cadet 270 Otter Squadron participated in our Adopt A Highway cleanup for our section of road. We cleaned both sides (of Highway 72) from the MNRF fire base to Drayton Road. We are very grateful to the MTO for providing safety vests and cleanup supplies as well as their efforts to provide signage for us. Repairs to a dangerous sinkhole out the highway left them unable to be as visible as the MTO normally would be so we are also very grateful to the highway traffic that slowed down as they approached.
These cadets are an impressive bunch! With less than 24 hours’ notice, we had so large a number of cadets arrive that we had to run out to find as many safety vests as we could lay hands on. They cleaned up a giant bagful of litter while having fun and enjoying their time out. If youth like them are our future, it is a bright future indeed.
