Warrior Wrestling Club Wrestlers Knocking at the Door
On May 8, 2019 the Warrior Wrestling Club competed at the Lakehead Elementary School Wrestling Championships. Twenty-five teams, 10 mats and over 500 young athletes. The team made great strides this year with 6 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze and 3 fourth-place placings. The Club improved from 19th place the previous year, to 11th and are now knocking at the door of the top 10. This is quite incredible as the Club is only in its third year of existence, and has never been able to bring their full complement of athletes, as many are unable to make the long drive to Thunder Bay. All of the remaining twenty-four teams represent schools and clubs from the immediate area. We are so proud of these young wrestlers! A big shout out to the fantastic coaches from Sioux North High School, and to the returning coaching team that made this all possible: Levi Melnichuk, Bradley Grenier, Kianna Barker, Ethian Nadeau, Serena Anderson, Dalton Thwaites and Denzel Coulombe, as well as Craig Burch.
We would also like thank the amazing people at Morgan Fuels who provided the shirts. This is the first year we actually looked like a team at the competition. Thank you also to Fair Convenience, Drayton Cash and Carry, and Dian Patterson for your support!
