Community members packed the Best Western Conference Room on October 17 for a breast cancer awareness ‘wear pink’ luncheon, hosted by Sioux Lookout Mayor Doug Lawrance. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Lawrance joined other Northwestern Ontario mayors in raising funds for breast cancer research.
“The breast cancer awareness ‘wear pink’ luncheon went very well. I would like to thank all those who contributed and participated,” Lawrance commented.
He further stated, “We had great corporate response including in-kind contributions and donations from Fresh Market Foods, Tim Horton’s, Best Western, Cheers, Keewatin-Aski Ltd., Sioux Mountain Realty, Morgan Fuels, and Gillon’s Insurance.
“For wonderful baking donations which raised money through a highly competitive auction, big thank you’s to Delma Clace, Wendy Mansfield, Robyn Fenelon, and Cherry Lawrance.
“And thank you to Karen Costello in the Municipal Office for a great job in pulling the entire event together. The result was $2,000 of funds raised which will go to fighting breast cancer.”
