The Sioux North High School (SNHS) Warriors hosted the Red Lake District High School Rams in a hockey exhibition double-header at the Lac Seul Arena on Nov. 3.
The Warriors won both games, beating the Rams 12-2 and 7-0, as they prepare for the upcoming hockey season.
When asked about this year’s expectations, based upon last year’s run to the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) hockey playoffs, Warriors head coach Karl Schulz said expectations are fair.
“It’s early in the year and a lot can happen, but looking at it on paper people should have the same expectations. I know I do and I think the boys do too; it’s just a matter executing it,” he said.
Schulz also shared that this veteran group has good chemistry on and off the ice, which could help further their success.
“I’m happy with it. We have a veteran team who have mostly played together all their lives so we’re a tight team. I think they have what it takes, now it’s time for them to go out there and prove it,” he concluded
The Warriors will start their season at home on Nov. 14 when they take on the St. Thomas Aquinas High School Saints at 7 p.m.
