Tikinagan hosts family-fun activities in Lac Seul

It was an afternoon filled with laughing and smiling as families were welcomed to get in on the fun that Tikinagan Child and Family Services set up in Lac Seul on June 24.
Bouncy castles and a giant inflatable water slide were featured just in front of the Obishikokaang Elementary School throughout the afternoon. Increased funding from Tikinagan, with assistance from Lac Seul Prevention Services, helped make the event larger than usual.
“In the past we’ve usually done a smaller event with foster parents and their foster children, but this year the agency has granted us a bit more funding so we took it to more of a community level. We wanted to get all families involved,” said Loretta Lawson, who is the direct services supervisor for Tikinagan covering the Lac Seul area.
Siblings Mackenna and Zachary Labelle were there right when the fun started and the two couldn’t get enough of it.
“This is awesome. The bouncy castles are so much fun,” the siblings agreed.
The giant water slide was definitely the favourite activity among participants. At one point there were nearly 20 kids trying to use the waterslide. When asked if they were having fun, they responded with a resounding, “Yes!”
It was exactly those excited and enthusiastic reactions throughout the day that made Lawson pleased.
“It’s exciting to see. It’s nice being here interacting with the families. All we can hear is laughter and fun,” she concluded.
