Sioux Lookout team wins fifth-straight Ignace slo-pitch tournament

The Sioux Banshees have been going to the Ignace slo-pitch tournament for about eight years now. This year was their fifth-straight year winning the tournament.
The tournament’s future was in doubt when the organizer of the event stepped down from that role in June. Derrick Greene, Dave Hildebrand and Wilfred Machimity decided to step up and keep the tournament going with the help of Lynda Colby, who is the operations manager from Ignace.
“We managed to get 12 teams and run a very successful tournament,” Greene shared.
The Sioux Banshees won a very close A-Division final 21-20 in nine-innings over Frankies from Thunder Bay. Atikokan won the B-Division final by 10 over Gerrys Kids from Thunder Bay/Ignace. The Flaming Arrows from Thunder Bay/Fort Hope won a very close C-Division final by a couple of runs over No Glove No Love.
