Sioux Lookout Rescue now a standalone organization

The Sioux Lookout Rescue, formerly a part of the Second Chance Pet Network (SCPN) based out of Dryden, has now branched off on its own. Temporarily named The Sioux Lookout Rescue, the organization has grown significantly throughout the years and is now taking on the role of rescuing and supporting Sioux Lookout’s animals in need.
Lynda Ducharme, one of the Sioux Lookout Rescue’s board members, said the branch away from SCPN was nothing but kind and respectful, “They’ve helped us out a lot over the years and we are excited to have the opportunity to take it in our own direction. We have the same philosophies and beliefs, we will remain no-kill and local animals will come first. We wish them (SCPN) the best and are so grateful for everything they’ve done for us. The biggest change is that we will be paying for our own vet bills.”
Ducharme continued, “We have so much support from the community, it’s amazing. If we put out an ad asking for help with food or anything else we get so much support and huge amounts of donations.”
The rescue is currently in the process of getting their non-profit and charitable status. When the legal process is complete, the rescue will be opening up a voting process for board members and hopes the community will gain interest in buying memberships. The rescue will soon begin fundraising for their costs and is also currently doing a cash draw with SCPN.
Sioux Lookout Rescue also held a contest for a name and logo.
On the organization’s Facebook Page, they shared, “We would like to thank everyone for their suggestions and logos for the new Sioux Lookout Rescue. It was a hard decision there were so many excellent suggestions. The winners were Todd Gadal for the logo, Charlene Ogden and Meagan Alesha for the name.”
The winning name selected was Sioux Looks Out For Paws Animal Rescue.
The winning logo is a paw which incorporates a heart.
Ducharme wished SCPN the best and thanked them for all that they helped Sioux Lookout with. Anyone interested in fostering or adopting animals at the shelter can message the organization on Facebook at Sioux Lookout Rescue to make arrangements.
