Rotary Lobsterfest draws a full crowd

Over 300 people filled the Sioux Lookout Golf and & Curling Club for an evening of enjoying lobster, ribs and dancing for the 14th annual Lobsterfest held by the Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout on Sept. 22.
Lobsterfest is commonly sold out, but this years’ tickets went faster than usual.
“We were sold out, so I was very pleased. It’s been very successful the last couple years but, this year, we actually sold out sooner than we had in recent years, so I was happy with that,” said Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout President Klaus Knorz.
Guests left Lobsterfest with full stomachs, but some also left with full hands as well. There were a variety of brand new items available through auction or draws, and Knorz credits community members and businesses for their reliable support.
“The credit for that really has to go to the people and the businesses in this community and the surrounding area. They continually provide an unbelievable amount of support and it never ceases to amaze me how a community this size can come up with the support for these events like Sioux Lookout does,” he said.
The Rotary Club of Sioux Lookout is preparing for their fall and winter events, which includes some events that have been quite popular in the past.
“The Rotary bingo is going to be coming up. It’s usually a very healthy fundraiser for the community. Christmas is coming and we used to do the peanut drive every year but we switched to chocolate covered almonds, and the response to that has been very favourable. We sold out last year and we’re anticipating another good year as well,” Knorz concluded.
