Municipality of Sioux Lookout hires new CAO

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has hired a new Chief Administrative Officer.
At a special meeting, held on July 3, Municipal Council selected Michelle Larose as its new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO).
Larose is currently CAO/Clerk/Treasurer for the Town of Cobalt.
She brings with her over 17 years of municipal experience, including nine years as a CAO.
Her first day on the job will be August 27.
“Michelle and her husband are from Northern Ontario and have brought up their family in the north. They look forward to the northern lifestyle of Sioux Lookout.
“Michelle has an education in economics and finance, and is a Certified Municipal Officer by the Association of Municipal Managers, Clerks, and Treasurers of Ontario (AMCTO). Michelle also has additional training in municipal accounting, law and human resources. Her work record displays continual growth with positions in Perth East, Smooth Rock Falls, Iroquois Falls, Deep River, Cochrane and Cobalt,” a news release issued by The Municipality of Sioux Lookout informs.
“Municipal Council engaged Legacy Bowes Group Ltd. to undertake a search and selection process for the vacant CAO position. We are very satisfied with the result and look forward to working with our new CAO, Michelle Larose. We also want to thank Airport Manager Ben Hancharuk who has taken on the responsibility of Acting CAO for several months,” noted Mayor Doug Lawrance.
Larose shared, “I am very excited to be joining the municipal team in Sioux Lookout. I look forward to working with and cultivating new relationships with Council, staff, and our citizens, to build on the successes of the community.”
Larose replaces Ann Mitchell who moved on to Lethbridge, Alberta, following six years as CAO in Sioux Lookout.
