Memories & Celebrations of Life:
Obituary - Morna Gail Roy
Sept 17, 1938 - Mar 15, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we advise that Gail passed away on March 15, 2018, with family at her side at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Centre. Gail was born in Thunder Bay, Ontario and was raised in the Fort William neighbourhood. She graduated in 1959 from the McKellar Hospital as a Registered Nurse and travelled to Sioux Lookout in January 1960 along with a nursing friend to start their first jobs as Nurses at the Indian Hospital. Sioux Lookout is where she met Ted, they got married in 1960 and together they raised seven children, 19 grandchildren and one great-grand child. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grand-mother and a friend to all. She was so proud of all of her family and loved them all dearly. She did not pick favourites. She also worked in the Port Arthur General Hospital, she did some Medivac Nursing as well and later retired as the Home Care Nursing Manager in the Sioux Lookout Office. She taught sewing classes out of her home and also taught the first Home Economics class program for the Sacred Heart School. Gail has contributed greatly to her community and her church. She was always volunteering for various groups or events. She served on the Catholic School board and the General Hospital board. She was the president of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary, the president of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Sargent of Arms as well. She was the President of the Sioux Area Activity Centre for many years and was in charge of their ethnic dinners and entertainment. She was a lector in Church and also organized the funeral luncheons for the CWL and also for the Legion as well. She also taught line dancing every week to the seniors. She had a very strong faith and went to church daily. Gail was also known as “the Jelly Bean Lady” for the Seniors Annual Christmas dinner. She loved to travel and covered many parts of the world. We only wished that she would have had more time to continue her traveling. She was predeceased by her parents George and Esther Cryderman and her brother Gary, her Husband Ted and her Grandson Tyler. She is greatly missed by children Wendy (James), Dean (Carol), Marty (Lisa), Chris (Traci), Denise (Larry), Kari-Gail (Hasse), Erin (Lawrence), 18 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. She will also be missed by brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews and friends. You will be forever in all of our thoughts and hearts and never forgotten. You have had such an impact on our lives and we love you for it. Continue to watch over us all until we meet once again. Thank you to all the family and friends for their love and support at this difficult time.
