He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and one sister-in-law Helen. He was predeceased by his son Michael, his parents Dan and Anne Kressall, one brother John, Emily’s parents, and numerous Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law.
Friends and family were received at the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home Chapel on the eve of Oct 11, 2017 with prayers at 6pm. Funeral Service for Mike was held at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, October 12, 2017 with Father Biju officiating. Interment followed at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Thank you to all of Mike’s nine grandsons who acted as pallbearers for the service. Special Thank You to the choir, organist and C.W.L. for their special part.
Mike came to Canada from Kitzam, Romania at the age of five years accompanied by his Mother Anne and his Brother John. They were met at the train station by their father, Dan. The family then settled in the West end of Sioux Lookout. Mike remained in that area of Sioux Lookout marrying Emily and raising five children there. Mike and Emily moved into William George Extended Care in early 2016.
Mike will be remembered in many different ways. He worked in the bush in his early years. He also worked for the Beer Store for 35 years. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a frequent visitor of the dump where he would collect and recycle many articles for further use.
Mike and his wife Emily also shared together their love of fishing at Love’s Cove and Bindo Bay, picnics with their children when they were young, hunting, gardening, picking berries and in their later years, sitting on the swing in the backyard enjoying the scenery. Mike (Dad) was a gentle, caring, humble man with a heart of gold. He will be missed.
Emily and the family would like to thank Dr. Morgan and all the staff at Extended Care for the special care that Mike (Dad) received. Also thank you to Father Mike for all the prayers and blessings that Mike and the family received during his many visits.
Many thanks to all our family and friends for their support, sympathy, phone calls, and emails during our time of sorrow. Also thank you for the donations of food, much appreciated, and monetary donations received on Mike’s behalf.
If friends so desire, donations may be made to the William George Extended Care Activity Fund or the Sacred Heart Building Fund through the Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, Box 1449, Sioux Lookout, ON, P8T 1B7
