Approximately 400 Sioux Lookout residents and guests enjoyed Sioux Lookout’s first ever Festival of Trees on Dec. 1 at the Heritage Railway Station.
The event, which was sponsored by the Municipality of Sioux Lookout and the Sioux Lookout Chamber of Commerce, featured 17 decorated trees provided by the following local businesses: A.J. Positano Paving, Kolors Hair Design, Volt Entertainment, Best Western , The Bark Barn, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, The Sioux Lookout Bulletin, Drayton Cash n’ Carry, Home Hardware, Fresh Market Foods, Madsen Motors, Dori’s Sewing Studio, Color Cloud, Gillon’s Insurance, H&M C. A. R. S., and The Window & Door Store.
Along with viewing the trees, younger visitors had the opportunity to meet and take photos with Santa, participate in crafts, and enjoy hot chocolate.
Katie Positano, one of the event coordinators, shared that she was pleased with the turnout, and they’re hoping to make it an even bigger event next year.
“The day went well, and it was very well attended. Next year we’re hoping to double the amount of trees and possibly turn it into a two-day event,” she concluded.
