The first baby of 2018 to be born at the Sioux Lookout Meno Ya Win Health Centre (SLMHC) was eager to enter the world.
Born to Taralyn Kakekagumick of Sandy Lake First Nation, and Tyler Aysanabee, Kakekagumick said her daughter arrived about two weeks earlier than expected.
Born at 6:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day, Josephine (Jojo) Aysanabee measured 50 cm in length and weighed 3.023 kilograms.
Jojo was delivered by Dr. Lianne Gerber Finn.
Kakekagumick said Jojo’s four older siblings, two brothers and two sisters, along with many other family members, are eager to meet her.
Kakekagumick said her daughter is named after her step-mother, who passed away last November.
Jojo received a quilt, created by members of the Sioux Lookout Material Girls Quilters Guild, during her stay at SLHMC.
