Family Safety Night taking place May 31
Tim Brody - Associate Editor
Mark your calendars. Family Safety Night will take place Wednesday, May 31, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre.
Billed as a free, fun, and educational evening with a focus on safety education and awareness, the event is being hosted by the Municipal Emergency Services Department in partnership with the Sioux Lookout Recreation Centre, Northwestern Health Unit, Ontario Provincial Police, and the Ontario Native Women’s Association.
The event takes place every other year.
“The last time we did it, it was really successful. We had a lot of people show up so we’re hoping we get another big crowd,” said Sioux Lookout Fire Chief Rob Favot.
Ten booths are currently confirmed for this year’s event.
Favot said any business, organization, or individual who has a safety related message, is welcome to join the evening.
There is no charge to participate in the event.
The event is free for members of the public to attend.
Door prizes will be available.
Favot encourages anyone with a booth to offer a draw, or have some items to give away at their booths.
Businesses can support the event by providing door prizes.
Hot dogs and refreshments will be provided.
Anyone looking for more information on Family Safety Night or who would like to have a booth in the event can contact Favot at 737-2564 or Joanne Peacock at the Northwestern Health Unit at 737-2292.
