Statement of Remembrance:
NAN honours veterans
Members of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation (NAN) Executive Council will join First Nation and municipal leaders to honour the contributions of veterans of war and peacekeeping operations during Remembrance Day ceremonies across northwestern Ontario on Sunday.
“On Remembrance Day we honour all who have come to the defence of Canada in world wars and conflicts around the globe, as well as those who continue to protect Canada’s interests,” said Grand Chief Alvin Fiddler. “As we commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War One, we honour the warriors who volunteered to enlist as well as the women and families who supported the war efforts at home. That tradition continues today through our members who contribute to our national defence in the Canadian Forces, police services and the Canadian Rangers.”
