Normal operations are expected to resume at the Post Office in Sioux Lookout early this week according to Canada Post.
Renovations to the Post Office retail and box lobby area resulted in line-ups with lengthy wait times last week.
A note affixed by the Post Office door, signed Canada Post Sioux Lookout read, “We would like to apologize for any inconvenience the construction of our retail and box lobby is causing, we are working to minimize the problems picking up mail as this moves forward.”
PO Box replacement work took place between Friday evening and Monday morning.
Residents were informed, again through a sign by the Post Office door, “You will be able to pick up two keys for your new postal pox as of Monday, October 22 at 13:00. Identification will be required.”
The Bulletin reached out to Canada Post about the renovations.
Phil Legault, media relations, Canada Post informed, “This is part of a national project that has been going on for a few years.
“The Sioux Lookout Post Office was identified as one that would welcome a refresh to better display our products, make the customers’ visit more welcoming and also provide a better environment for our employees.
“All services continue to be available during renovations and customers can pick up their mail at the counter while work is being done on the post office mailboxes.
“We are sure that customers will be pleased with their upgraded post office. Renovations are expected to be back operational early next week.”
