Please save your empties
After the previous federal government ended funding in 2012, Katimavik National Experience is back in 2018!
The Katimavik National Experience provides Canadian youth aged 18-25 with a transformative six month experience where they explore various topics, gain valuable personal and professional skills, and deepen their understanding and respect for the environment and for cultural and linguistic diversity.
Katimavik volunteers live in a group setting, volunteer with community organizations, and work as a group to advance community projects and discover the benefits of civic engagement. The experience also provides young Canadians with the opportunity to learn about and engage in truth and reconciliation activities.
Sioux Lookout resident Jack Mesich (18) is one of the 66 volunteers that will participate in the first round of Katimavik in 2018. These volunteers will begin their experience on July 3. Jack’s group, along with their project leader, will work three months in Quebec City and three months in Calgary. Each volunteer is asked to raise $1000 to contribute to Katimavik.
Please support Katimavik by donating your empties to Jack’s bottle drive this Saturday, May 12.
