Municipality advising motorists of stop sign changes

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout has announced the next intersection in town where stop signs will be removed.
The northbound and southbound stop signs at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Queen Street are slated to be removed from what is currently a four-way stop intersection.
Northbound and southbound traffic on Fifth Avenue will no longer be required to stop after March 29.
The Municipality of Sioux Lookout urges motorists to be aware of the impending change.
The Municipality explained on its Facebook page, “Through a recommendation brought forward from Public Works, council has approved to remove a number of unwarranted all-way stop control intersections throughout Sioux Lookout. This will be completed in a phased approach, removing stop signs at a couple of intersections at a time. The decision to remove all-way stop control at specific intersections was based on guidance from the Ministry of Transportation’s Highway Traffic Manual, and in accordance with local traffic movement and maintenance requirements.”
