Christmas craft, bake sale, and movie night at Sacred Heart School
Students held a fundraiser to give back to the community at Christmas.
Students talked about local agencies in need of support and money at this special time of year.
They chose The Second Chance Pet Network, Out of the Cold Shelter, and First Step Women’s Shelter.
So, the crafts began. The Grades 4, 5 and 6 teachers collaborated to come up with crafts and things to do to raise money.
Teachers were Mrs. Teena Spooner, Mrs. Kirsty Greene, Mr. Darren Johnson, Mrs. Cynthia O’Donovan, Mr. Craig Mahoney, Mrs. Roberta Chabbert, and Mrs. Susan Cospito.
We held the event at the school on Tuesday, December 19 from 6-8 p.m.
There was reindeer feed, hot chocolate, reindeer mix, ornaments, center pieces, and much more for Christmas crafts.
We had a bake sale that included cookies, bread, cookie mix, peanut butter squares, and more.
We also requested a visit from Santa from the North Pole. He landed his reindeer on the roof and came into the library where students and family took pictures with him and shared what they wanted for Christmas.
The students ran a slushy machine and popcorn machine, as well as all of the tables and the movie night in the gym. We showed the movie Elf, and it was a hit!
The following day classes were called down to the gym to purchase the remaining crafts.
After all the sales were in, we raised $1245. AMAZING!!
The cheques were presented by the students in the lobby at Sacred Heart School at different times.
I am so proud of the staff and students. They recognize Christmas is all about giving and put their all into this event, making it a huge success.
