Letter To The Editor:
Thank you. Merci. Miigwech.
First I would like to thank everyone for your congratulatory wishes on receiving the “Jack McKenzie Award”.
I would like to clarify a few remarks in the recent paper article.
I wasn’t involved with SELCO, but I was on the NHAG committee with Rachel George Peggy Sanders, Margaret Atwood, Emma Bowes, Ella Williams to name a few. We wrote letters to business, organizations, and surrounding communities to support us financially as well as letters of support to increase our number of beds for the possibility of getting our “Extended Care Facility”. All of this would be turned over to the “SELCO Organizations”.
The “Poinsettia Sale” at Sacred Heart Church was initiated by Kathy Poling and continued with each president of the CWL until I took over for about 15 years.
Jack McKenzie was a special person who worked hard for our community by volunteering. This is why this award is so special. Thanks to Sioux Lookout Rotary for initiating this award.
To Charron Sippola and Liz Ward who were also nominated for this award, “A Big Congratulations”, to you two ladies (who) were also winners by being nominated. You are both special volunteers.
Lastly to The Rotary Club, the people of Sioux Lookout who take pride in our community and support all the activities, Blueberry Festival, sports activities etc. of “Our Beautiful Little Town of the North”.
Thank You. Merci. Miigwech.
Blessings to All,
Geraldine Morgan
