SLGCC prepares to open for Golf Season
Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club Board of Directors
Although the Ford government announced on Thursday May 14 that Golf Courses could open by Saturday May 16, the Sioux Lookout Golf Course remains CLOSED with anticipation to open soon after the long weekend. We kindly ask our members and customers to remain patient while we prepare our facilities and staff to meet new measures and guidelines in place for this COVID pandemic. The board felt the Club could not rush the opening for the safety of the staff, members and visitors. The Board and staff have been eagerly awaiting the announcement and what new rules or guidelines would be expected. Many had already been anticipated and discussed by the board for weeks prior to, but the current club staff now have a lot of additional work to prepare the facility and train new staff to meet the safety guidelines and measures for physical distancing and sanitizing.
However, that said the Club has been staffed as of Friday May 15th to start selling memberships and answering inquires. Due to the uncertainty of the season we are offering Golf memberships at the 2019 rates as posted. AND for a limited time, Members can also buy a 2021 Golf membership at the same 2019 rate. New this year upon AGM approval, we are also now offering a Club “Voting” membership to our seasonal Golf and Curling members for an additional $50 fee.
Until we are officially open for golf, Club staff will be happy to assist you between 8 AM and 4 PM by phone 737-1800 or, at the Club while maintaining physical distancing measures. The Club is not accepting cash at this time. The Club Facebook page will be posting updates as soon as they become available on an opening date of the course and club guidelines on physical distancing measures. The restaurant is still closed until further notice.
The club is currently without a full time Manager and the Board is seeking a suitable candidate for the year round position. The ideal candidate would have Recreational or Business education and experience and some supervisory skills.
