Community Corner:
Scouts popcorn recognition
This year, we managed to sell over $15,000 worth of popcorn in our community! This money will be used for programming, updating our camp and providing the youth with many opportunities without additional costs to the families! This is always our biggest fundraiser and we really wish to thank the families and the community for their support!
If a child raises more than $2,500 in a single year they become eligible for a scholarship from Scouts Canada. After the first year they achieve that goal they do not have to reach that same threshold and six per cent of their sales will also go toward that scholarship. We are happy to announce that we have reached this milestone again. This is the second time we have had this happen in Sioux Lookout! Ryker Howard achieved this goal two years ago, and this year Donovan McCord has reached that goal!
Our top sales from each program this year are as follows:
Beavers: Ryker - $1510, Alastair - $810, Bronson - $650.
Cubs: Donovan - $3220, Liam - $1515, John Bradley - $945.
Scouts Canada sent a plaque for Donovan as he was also the top fundraiser in the region.
Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic we were unable to recognize the achievements of our Scouts at our regular ceremony. The top three overall sales were recognized with a trophy and the photos were submitted by their families! The photos are of Donovan McCord, Ryker Howard and Liam Serson. Congratulations to you all and thank you for your efforts!
We hope to be able to get together again soon!
Yours in Scouting,
Sunshine aka Nancy McCord
